Bougainvillea Gloucester Royal is a larger growing cultivar. Flowering mostly in the cooler months it produces rich, claret-red bracts. The new leaf growth is purplish-red and develops into dark green pointed leaves. They survive with little water and are relatively disease-free.Â
Bougainvillea are long flowering and can be adapted for a wide variety of landscaping uses. Some of these uses include topiary, hedging, hanging baskets, arbours and arches. Today’s Bougainvillea have a great range in growth habit and height. There are dwarf varieties that grow to only a metre, compact medium growers and some such as White Cascade that offer a beautiful cascading habit. Bougainvillea prefer a well drained soil and sunny position. The range of colours offers limitless combinations and a palette to choose from that would satisfy any landscape design.Â

Please note: At this small size, Bougainvillea have delicate roots and should be handled with care. Don’t tease or disturb roots but rather water the pot well, gently invert and tap pot on the side of a hard surface so it slides out. Our recommendation is to plant our beautifully-grown Bougainvillea into a larger pot rather than directly into the ground
