Tulbaghia Cominsii X Violacea Purple Eye ‘Society Garlic’

Tulbaghia cominsii x violacea Purple Eye has narrow grey-green leaves that form in upright clumps and produces small pink flowers with dark purple centres. When crushed the leaves have a strong garlic smell (hence the nickname Society Garlic). Purple Eye is a smaller more narrower version on the more common Tulbaghia violacea. This small plant is worth growing for the silver foliage and small flowers and does really well in a pot on sunny balcony.

• What to use me for: Great in a pot or as a border plant in a cottage garden

• I grow to: 40cm high, 40cm wide 

• Where to place me: Full sun 

• How far to space me: 30cm apart

• Watering conditions: I will need regular water for the first 12 weeks but once established I am not that needy just keep me on the moist side

• Soil Conditions: If you are planting me in a pot make sure it has a drainage hole and use a good quality organic potting mix which drains well 

• My features: You can eat me! Put me in salads or soups I have a mild garlic taste
